Birds are way more intelligent than we give them credit. As a result they can become bored or stressed -generally due to inappropriate housing, feeding or noise/lighting conditions .
Dietary enrichment – Ignore all those supermarket Dr Harry/Trill type seed packets -they are a recipe for a sick bird with liver disease. Too much fat and too little protein/ calcium/iodine/ Vitamin A etc etc. Nevertheless it is palatable and birds raised on it like it . Seed is an additive not a diet. The best way to feed seeds if you must is pre- sprouted , otherwise feed a crumble pellet then add some fruits or vegetables .You don’t need yet another millet/sunflower seed bell! . They DO need mineral block /grit or cuttlefish. We stock high quality Vetapharm Budgie -Parrot crumble. Ask the Vet for advice.
Environmental enrichment- A cage should not be not a prison cell . Add some toys and leafy branches with bark like Bottlebrush or Grevillia to help decorate/play with/ hide in.
Keep a normal daylight length with a blackout cover ..so the birds can go to sleep ..when the birds go to sleep..
